D&D Name Generator

Roll a tabletop-ready hero name by ancestry, class and style — copy it straight into your character sheet.

Roll your character name

Names regenerate the instant you change a filter — no page reload, nothing leaves your device.

Drives the syllable pools.
Nudges weighting only — never locks a name in.

    How it works

Three steps, no account, no uploads.

    1 · Pick an ancestry

Each of the eight ancestries has its own openings, endings and family names, split into feminine, masculine and neutral endings.

2 · Set class and style

Class nudges the weighting (a wizard sees more arcane endings), the flavor slider sets how elaborate each name gets.

    3 · Copy and play

Every card copies with one tap; Copy all gives you the batch as a newline list for your notes.

    Built for the table

    No repeats in a batch

Names are deduped as they roll. If a thin pool runs low you get fewer names rather than the same name twice.

    Instant and offline-friendly

Generation is pure JavaScript in the page — no round-trip, no queue, and it keeps working once loaded.

    Clipboard that degrades

Secure contexts use the clipboard API; otherwise a hidden textarea plus the legacy copy command takes over.

    Nothing stored

No accounts, no cookies, no server-side history of the names you roll.

    FAQ

Is this an official D&D tool?

No. It is an unofficial, fan-made helper that builds names from generic fantasy syllables. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or licensed by any game publisher, and it does not reproduce any published name lists.

How does the class option change results?

It only shifts weighting: when a class is chosen, roughly half of the names use class-flavored endings and about a third use class-flavored family names. Any ancestry and class combination stays possible.

Why do I sometimes get fewer than 20 names?

Short, plain names (flavor level 1) draw from a smaller ending pool. Rather than repeat itself, the generator backs off and returns only the unique names it could roll — try flavor level 2 or 3 to widen the pool.

Do I need an account or a download?

No. There is no sign-up, no install and no paywall — the page works as soon as it loads.

Can I use the names anywhere?

The combinations are generated on the fly in your browser and are not tied to any published setting. Use them on character sheets, in home games or in your own writing.
