Mid-market rates, before any provider spread. Your bank's rate will be worse by roughly the markup you entered.

How it works

1 · Enter the amount

Type or paste the amount you are sending, spending or receiving. Commas and spaces are ignored.

2 · Read the mid-market number

The big figure is the live mid-market conversion — the rate banks trade at between themselves, with no markup added.

3 · Compare the markup

Set the spread you were quoted (2–4% is typical) and see what actually lands, plus the amount the spread quietly takes.

Mid-market or nothing

No padded tourist rates. You see the raw interbank rate, then the same amount after your markup — side by side.

The spread, in money

A 3% markup sounds small until it is $30 on a $1,000 transfer. The cost line shows it in the currency you are spending.

Compare your amount across the currencies people actually send, and click any row to make it the target.

Honest about staleness

The rate date and source sit above the fold. If the feed is down, you get the last cached rate and a manual override.

FAQ

What is the mid-market rate?

It is the midpoint between buy and sell prices on the global currency market — the rate you see on news sites. Banks and cards add a spread on top, which is why the number they quote you is worse.

Where do the rates come from, and how fresh are they?

Live daily reference rates from exchangerate.host, cached in memory for 10 minutes. The rate date is printed next to the result so you can judge staleness yourself.

What markup should I enter?

Credit and debit cards abroad commonly cost 2–3% on top of the rate; airports and exchange kiosks can reach 8–10%. Use the number your bank or provider quotes and the second figure becomes your real take-home amount.

What happens if the rate feed is unavailable?

The page falls back to the last rate it cached in your browser and labels it clearly. You can also open Manual rate override and type the exact rate you were offered — the maths updates instantly.

Is this a quote I can trade on?

No. It is a reference estimate to sanity-check an offer. Your provider sets the binding rate at the moment the transaction settles.
