How it works

The photo is flattened onto white if it has transparency, resized to your max long edge, then encoded repeatedly from quality 0.92 down to 0.4 to keep the largest file that still fits.
You get the preview, the achieved pixel size, the exact byte count and a download button named for your limit. Share straight to your phone's Files or Photos app if you prefer.
Where a 20–50 KB limit shows up
The same hard ceiling, different forms. Pick the chip above and the tool targets that number.
Portals typically want 20–50 KB with the head centred. Keep the long edge at 1600 px and the search will land the file just under the line.
Signature and photo boxes often cap at 30 KB per file. Compress each one separately — one file in, one file out.
"Max 100 KB" profile pictures are common; the pills include 100 KB so you keep as much detail as the limit allows.
Scans with a plain background squeeze well below 30 KB. If a page still will not fit, lower the max long edge to 800–1000 px.
Older portals are strictest. Download the JPEG at 20 KB, then check the form accepts .jpg before uploading the WebP option.

FAQ
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Decoding, resizing and encoding all happen in your browser with the canvas API, and the size check reads the real Blob size locally. There is no server endpoint for images in this tool.
How do you guarantee the file is really under 30 KB?
Every candidate is measured with Blob.size — not estimated — and one kilobyte is counted as 1,024 bytes (30 KB = 30,720 bytes). The result badge shows the exact size of the file you are about to download.
What if 30 KB is impossible for my photo?
The compressor keeps shrinking — down to 200 px on the long edge and quality 0.4 — and reports the smallest file it reached instead of quietly handing you something over the limit. You can still download that file, or raise the max long edge and try a different photo.
My PNG has a transparent background — what happens?
JPEG has no alpha channel, so transparent pixels are flattened onto white before encoding and the result card tells you it happened. Choose WebP if you need to keep transparency and the portal accepts it.
Why is my iPhone HEIC file rejected?
Browsers cannot decode HEIC. In Photos, share the picture and choose Export (or set the camera to Most Compatible) to get a JPG, then compress that.
What does the "best-quality search" toggle do?
On, it encodes several candidates between quality 0.92 and 0.4 and keeps the largest one that still fits your limit — the sharpest file the ceiling allows. Off, it encodes once at 0.72 and drops to 0.4 only if needed, which is faster but may look softer.
