Online Receipt Generator
Type your details once and watch a clean, itemised receipt build itself — then print it or save it as a PDF. Made for UK sole traders and small businesses who need proof of payment in under a minute.
Build your receipt
Every field updates the preview instantly. Rows with a description but no figures count as £0.00; a blank quantity means 1.
| Description | Qty | Price (ex VAT) | Amount |
|---|
How it works
Add your business name, the customer and each line item. Quantities and prices are validated as you type.
The preview and the subtotal / VAT / total strip update on every keystroke, exact to the penny.
Print it, choose "Save as PDF" to download, or copy the whole receipt as plain text into an email.
Built for small-business paperwork
Switch between ex-VAT and inc-VAT prices and the column heading, subtotal and VAT line all change with you.
All the maths runs in your browser. Your customer details never leave the device — only the receipt number sequence is remembered locally.
Type shrinks automatically for long names or 9+ rows, and we warn you when a receipt may run onto a second page.
FAQ
Is a receipt the same as a VAT invoice?
No. A receipt proves payment was made; a VAT invoice is a specific legal document with extra required details. This tool generates a receipt — if your customer needs to reclaim VAT, issue a proper VAT invoice as well.
How do I get the PDF?
Press Download PDF (or Print) and choose "Save as PDF" as the print destination. Only the receipt is printed, sized to A4 with 12mm margins.
Why are my prices treated as ex-VAT?
That is the UK default for a price list. If the amount you were paid already includes VAT, tick "My prices already include VAT" and the VAT is worked backwards out of the total instead of added on top.
What happens if a row is invalid?
Blank descriptions, negative figures and non-numeric amounts are highlighted in red and excluded from the totals — you never see NaN, and the rest of the receipt still adds up.
Is my data private?
Yes. There is no server call and no database: the page is plain HTML and JavaScript, so your details stay in the browser tab.
